Ngoài những kiến thức nhất định về ngữ pháp, người viết luận tiếng Anh cần biết cả những đặc điểm cần có ở một bài luận tốt, từ đó đạt được hiệu quả cao nhất có thể. Những thông tin dưới đây có thể giúp bạn nâng cao điểm số bài luận của mình.

1. Đề bài luận tiếng Anh
Tuy bài thi ĐH và thi tốt nghiệp không có phần thi viết, nhưng viết là một kỹ năng quan trọng trong tiếng Anh. Hơn nữa, trong chương trình học SGK, bạn cũng có thể nhận thấy có hẳn một phần WRITING riêng. Thường thì đề bài viết sẽ liên quan đến chủ đề học của bài đó, nhằm giúp học sinh liên hệ kiến thức được nhanh. Tuy nhiên, dạng đề phổ biến khi luyện viết luận mà học sinh nên tham khảo, kể cả với những ai thi TOEFL hoặc IELTS, đó là dạng đề “Đưa ra quan điểm cá nhân”.
Ví dụ: “Theo bạn thì nhà trường nên tập trung đầu tư xây dựng thư viện hay mở rộng sân thể thao?” hoặc “Đâu là dấu hiệu khẳng định một con người đã
trưởng thành hay chưa?”
Cũng như văn Việt Nam, điều đầu tiên để làm một bài luận tốt đó là đọc kỹ đề, từ đó xác định hướng làm đúng đắn. Với đề luận tiếng Anh, học sinh cũng cần lưu ý rằng không có đáp án đúng và cũng không có đáp án sai. Bản thân những người ra đề cũng không đưa ra một đáp án chấm điểm nào cả. Cái mà họ trông chờ ở người viết là sự hiểu đề, viết trôi chảy theo ngữ pháp tiếng Anh và cao hơn là thể hiện một tư duy logic, khả năng thuyết phục cao. Cái chính là bạn phải đưa ra được ý kiến của mình mà lập luận bằng được để bảo vệ lý lẽ đó, việc bạn chọn bênh vực cái nào không quan trọng.
2. Xác định hướng đi, dàn ý chính
Một bài luận thường có độ dài tối thiểu là 300 chữ. Người viết luận tiếng Anh nên chọn 2-3 ý chính để đưa vào bài viết, làm luận điểm chính cho mình. Hãy dành ra 1-3 phút suy nghĩ và chọn lọc ý. Một sơ đồ rành mạch sẽ giúp bạn đi đến đích nhanh hơn.
3. Nội dung và hình thức
Sau khi đã xác định rõ ràng các ý, người viết luận hãy bắt đầu ngay từ mở bài. Có một điều kiện kiên quyết khi viết tiểu luận tiếng Anh, đặc biệt là những tiểu luận có số chữ và thời gian giới hạn là bạn phải nêu ngay quan điểm của mình trong mở bài. Đừng có cố nói vòng vo lằng nhằng để rồi người chấm tìm mãi không thấy quan điểm của bạn ở đâu. Phần mở bài cũng nên tách làm một khổ riêng, như vậy sẽ dễ nhìn hơn.
Sau phần mở bài, những luận điểm của người viết nên được chia ra thành 2-3 đoạn nhỏ nữa, mỗi đoạn một luận điểm. Một đặc điểm của bài luận tiếng Anh là nó sẽ được đánh giá rất cao nếu có ví dụ. Ví dụ có thể là ví dụ cá nhân, ví dụ từ phim ảnh, sách báo. Nhưng ví dụ văn học và lịch sử, đặc biệt là văn học cổ điển được đánh giá rất cao. 4. Hành văn, ngữ pháp
Một khó khăn mà rất nhiều học sinh Việt Nam mắc phải đó là không biết diễn đạt từ ý tiếng Việt trong đầu ra ý tiếng Anh thế nào. Hơn nữa, do ảnh hưởng của nhiều năm học văn kiểu Việt Nam nên nhiều bạn viết luận tiếng Anh tư duy y như làm văn ở nhà. Rất nhiều học sinh viết luận thường có thói quen dịch từng từ tiếng Việt rồi ghép ghép thành câu tiếng Anh. Đây là một điều tuyệt đối tránh bởi nó sẽ khiến câu văn của bạn vô cùng lủng củng và khó hiểu. Thậm chí cho dù bạn có sắp xếp từ cho đúng ngữ pháp tiếng Anh thì về mặt ý nghĩa người đọc cũng không hiểu bạn muốn nói gì.
Cách tốt nhất để khắc phục điểm yếu này là luyện tập lối tư duy thẳng. Hãy luôn xác định chính xác bạn muốn nói gì trong đầu mình, tìm cách diễn đạt nó ngắn nhất, gọn nhất, hay nói cách khác là nói thẳng ruột ngựa ra. Từ ý nghĩ rõ ràng trong đầu, bạn mới có thể lựa chọn cách viết chính xác trong tiếng Anh được. Không nên tham sử dụng từ khó hiểu trong tiếng Anh. Nên nhớ, một bài luận sáng sủa, súc tích và rành mạch mới là chiến thuật thông minh nhất. Vẽ vời khoe chữ chỉ làm bạn tốn thời gian.
5. Tạm kết
Với những hiểu biết nhất định về bài luận tiếng Anh, chắc chắn bạn sẽ tự tin hơn khi bắt tay vào viết luận. Tuy nhiên, tất cả những yếu tố trên sẽ không là gì nếu thiếu sự luyện tập chăm chỉ. Nên nhớ rằng, ngay cả những người bản xứ muốn viết hay cũng phải luyện, luyện rất nhiều. Đọc thêm sách báo, luyện viết đều đặn sẽ giúp trình viết luận của bạn ngày một tốt hơn.

Also, students go to colleges and universities to have new experiences. This often means having the opportunity to meet people different from those in their hometowns. Making these decisions increases their knowledge of themselves.

Throughout my life, I have been lucky enough to have a very good relationship with my parents. Parents may be too close to their children emotionally. Sometimes they can only see their children though the eyes of a protector. For example, they may limit a child’s freedom in the name of safety. Another problem is that parents may expect their children’s interests to be similar to their own. They can’t seem to separate from their children in their mind. If they love science, they may try to force their child to love science too. But what if their child’s true love is art, or writing, or car repair?
Parents are usually eager to pass on their value to their children. But should children always believe what their parents do? Maybe different generations need different ways of thinking. When children are young, they believe that their parents are always rights. But when they get older, they realize there are other views. Sometimes parents, especially older ones, can’t keep up with rapid social or technology changes. A student who has friends of all different races and backgrounds at school may find that her parents don’t really understand or value the digital revolution. Sometimes kids have to find their own ways to what they believe in.
The most important thing to realize is that we all have many teachers in our lives. Our parents teach us, our teachers teach us, and our peers teach us.

The convenience of preparing food today is amazing. Even stoves have gotten too slow for us. Microwave cooking is much easier. We can press a few buttons and a meal is completely cooked in just a short time. People used to spend hours preparing an oven-cooked meal, and now they can use that time for other, better things. Plus, there are all kinds of portable, prepackaged foods we can buy. Heat them in the office microwave, and lunch at work is quick and easy.
Food preparation today allows for more variety. With refrigerators and freezers, we can preserve a lot of different foods in our homes. Since technology makes cooking so much faster, people are willing to make several dishes for even a small meal. Parents are more likely to let children be picky, now that they can easily heat them up some prepackaged macaroni and cheese on the side. Needless to say, adults living in the same house may have very different eating habits as well. If they don’t want to cook a lot of different dishes, it’s common now to eat out at restaurants several times a week.
Healthful eating is also easier than ever now. When people cook, they use new fat substitutes and cooking sprays to cut fat and calories. This reduces the risk of heart disease and high cholesterol. Additionally, we can buy fruits and vegetable fresh, frozen or canned. They are easy to prepare, so many of us eat more of those nutritious items daily. A hundred years ago, you couldn’t imagine the process of taking some frozen fruit and ice from the freezer, adding some low-fat yogurt from a plastic cup and some juice from a can in the refrigerator, and whipping up a low-fat smoothie in the blender!
Our lifestyle is fast, but people still like good food. What new food preparation technology has given us is more choices.
