Are The Highwaymen Still Together? Exploring The Legendary Country Supergroups Status

The Highwaymen, a legendary country supergroup, embarked on a successful journey through the late 20th century. As the 1990s unfolded, the band remained active, delighting audiences with their iconic performances. However, the health of two of its prominent members, Waylon Jennings and Johnny Cash, began to deteriorate, making it increasingly challenging for them to sustain a rigorous touring routine. In response to these health challenges, both artists opted to reduce their touring commitments. Despite this, each member of The Highwaymen continued to showcase their individual talents as solo artists, further cementing their musical legacies. Notably, Waylon Jennings briefly collaborated with the “Old Dogs” project during this time. Tragically, the group lost two of its members, Jennings in 2002 and Cash in 2003, marking the end of an era in country music.

Are any of The Highwaymen, a renowned musical band, still alive today? Between their formation and 2009, the band maintained an active concert schedule, typically performing ten to twelve concerts annually. As of now, only two of the original five members, namely Steve Butts and Steve Trott, remain among the living. Unfortunately, the band suffered losses with Dave Fisher passing away on May 7, 2010, Gil Robbins, who was also the father of actor Tim Robbins, passing away on April 5, 2011, and Bob Burnett’s life coming to an end on December 8, 2011.
