Als gediplomeerd verzorgende IG kun je in verschillende zorginstellingen werken, zoals verpleeghuizen, thuiszorg, gehandicaptenzorg, ziekenhuizen en psychiatrische instellingen. Je kunt directe zorg bieden aan patiënten, ondersteunende taken uitvoeren en helpen bij het coördineren van zorgactiviteiten.

Je kunt ook doorgroeien naar meer gespecialiseerde functies binnen de zorg, zoals wondverzorging, palliatieve zorg, diabeteszorg of geriatrie. Er zijn ook mogelijkheden om door te studeren, bijvoorbeeld voor verpleegkundige niveau 4 of HBO-verpleegkundige.

Daarnaast zijn er mogelijkheden om te werken in de thuiszorg of als ZZP’er (zelfstandige zonder personeel) en zo zelf je werkuren en -taken te bepalen.
